HISTORY
Amanita comes from the planet Muscaria, a cool, damp world populated by a race of sentient fungus. Recruited by Larvox, Amanita possessed a sort of "cosmic awareness". On Muscaria, Amanita was an artist and visionary.
The slower Muscarian metabolism made communication difficult and sometimes frustrating. Still, Amanita served the Corps well against such threats as Star Sapphire, the Qwardian invasion of Oa, Eclipso, Entropy and The Triarch. After the destruction of the Green Lantern Corps, Amanita was captured by an interstellar slave ring. The powerless Green Lanterns were later rescued by Guy Gardner and the Darkstars.
When the Corps was restored, Amanita was once more amongst their numbers.
POWERS AND WEAPONS
As a Green Lantern, Amanita possesses a power ring and a power battery. As a Muscarian, Amanita is said to possess a "cosmic awarness" vaguely described as precognitive ability.

I wonder what Gerard Jones had planned with Amanita's "cosmic awareness" power. Could it tell what the Guardians were up to?
Amanita of Muscaria was named after the mushroom "amanita muscaria". A highly toxic organic compound named muscarine is derived from the red form of this mushroom. (ED- Ewww....)
On a happier note, Amanita looks like one of the mushroom dancers in Walt Disney's "Fantasia."
