HISTORY

Avir was the Green Lantern of Rhoon, a world which science and sorcery fought for control. In decades past, the ruling scientists of Rhoon had banished the magic users to a lone island.

To the people of Rhoon, Avir appeared as a practitioner of magic. They did not realize her power ring was created by the super-science of the Guardians the Universe. To stay amongst the magicians, Avir disguised the ring as "green magic".

In her later years, Avir saved Hollika Rahn, the daughter of two scientists, from certain death in a fiery destruction of their aircraft. The child was unharmed, but her parents were killed in the crash. Avir took the young girl as an apprentice, keeping her scientist background a secret from others on the island.

Upon Avir's death, the Guardians of the Universe approved Hollika Rahn as her successor.

Avir was memorialized in the Crypts of the Green Lantern Corps on Oa.

BLACK LANTERN: AVIR

During the event known as the Blackest Night, black rings desecrated the Crypts. The ring placed itself upon Avir's corpse, downloaded all of her memories and created a duplicate of her body that rose from the grave as a member of the Black Lantern Corps. - Blackest Night #1

POWERS AND WEAPONS
