HISTORY

Due to the Main Power Battery on Oa being drained by the entity known as Maaldor, Green Lanterns across the universe ran out of power to their rings.

In pursuit of the Raiders of Kramtoo, Green Lantern Cherniss of Krylos was startled to find his power ring lost its charge. Unable to stay aloft, the Green Lantern plunged to the planet's surface to his death.

Maaldor was ultimately defeated, but at the expense of Arkkis Chummuck's life. - Tales of the Green Lantern Corps Annual #1

Cherniss was memorialized in the Crypts of the Green Lantern Corps on Oa.
