HISTORY
The Gigorr was a massive, spiderlike creature that menaced the Green Lantern Corps millennia ago. The Guardians of the Universe described the Gigorr as "an unstoppable force of nature" and a "perfect killing machine" that developed a taste for the energy of the Green Lantern power rings. It was placed in an asteroid prison where it slumbered for years. Over time it became something of a myth used to scare rookie Lanterns.
When Green Lantern Mogo was destroyed, a piece of the planetform was thrown into Sector 3597 where it hit the ancient prison. The Gigorr woke, tasting the emerald energy. It started on a trail of death and destruction towards Oa. A number of Sector Houses fell and it ingested the Lanterns it crossed leaving no witnesses.
The Guardians sent Honor Guard Lantern Guy Gardner and four Lanterns chosen by him against the beast. Lanterns Squillic, Kruul and Artois were quickly overcome. Lanterns Gardner and Theodoric however willingly entered the beast to attack from the inside. Approximately fifty Lanterns were barely alive as the Gigorr was feeding on their power ring energy. Gardner used this against the Gigorr as he fed energy through their rings, incinerating the Gigorr from the inside out. The beast exploded, with Gardner and Theodoric the only survivors. The rings of fallen Lanterns were now able to find new successors, in Sectors 1693, 2304, 2429 and 2433. POWERS AND WEAPONS
The Gigorr was able to travel through space unaided and possessed a natural cloaking ability. It is presumed to have great strength as it was able to tear open a Sector House and also appeared to have great speed as well.
