HISTORY

A Green Lantern for over 500 years, Gion, the Green Lantern of Feron had originally acted as a rescuer of his people, saving them in times of need. As society grew more complex, alarm networks were set up to warn him of any disasters.

After a global war, Gion dictated terms for international behavior. The people of Feron turned to him for judgment and guidance. He came to be regarded to inhabitants as an indispensible part of their lives. After years, however, the time came for him to step down. Speculation was rampant over who would be the new Green Lantern, and what that would mean to Feron's people.

Gion asked the Guardians of the Universe not to replace him when he retired. Feron would be off limits to the new Green Lantern of that sector. The Guardians regarded this as drastic but neccessary. The people of Feron were shocked by this. As Gion flew off, riots started.

He returned home to be with his wife. The Green Lantern looked back, hoping the people of Feron would regain what he had taken from them. - Green Lantern Vol. 2 #185
