HISTORY

Gretti was a young man on board a spaceship in an ancient caravan of "space gypsies". The caravan was threatened by a hole between the anti-matter universe and ours.

The Green Lantern of Uxor (later known as the Green Man) had come to close the hole and save the travelers. Although they could not save themselves, the people of the caravan refused the Green Lantern's help. In accordance with the ways of their ancestors, no one outside of the group was allowed to aid the caravan. The gods had placed the evil in their ancient path, and they must meet it bravely and alone.

In order to help the caravan, the Green Lantern gave Gretti a power ring. The young man was arrogant and impatient, but after the Green Lantern showed him what to do, Gretti closed the hole and saved his people.

They returned to the caravan, with the young man regarded as a hero. The Green Lantern of Uxor left Gretti under the watchful eye of his grandmother. - Green Lantern Vol. 2 #164

Gretti spent years travelling with the caravan. In that time, the Green Man of Uxor had been expelled from the Corps and Hal Jordan had been possessed by Parallax leading to the destruction of the Central Power Battery and Oa itself.

Once freed of Parallax, Oa, the Guardians and the Corps returned. The Green Man and Gretti were both the Lanterns for Sector 2828, though Gretti would stray from his sector on numerous occasions, much to the chagrin of the Green Man, who partnered with Stel of Grenda.

Gretti was called back to the Vega System by Lantern Salakk to greet the Guardians of the Universe and members of the Corps as they attempted to seize the Orange Lantern Power Battery from Larfleeze. The Orange Lantern Corps tore Gretti apart, and then absorbed his very identity. The Guardians and Larfleeze ultimately reached a compromise, despite Gretti's death.

ORANGE LANTERN: GRETTI

Once his life was taken by Larfleeze's Orange Lanterns, Gretti "returned" as a member of the Corps. As an Orange Lantern, Larfleeze turned on his former fellow Green Lanterns, incuding John Stewart.

BLACK LANTERN: GRETTI

During the event known as the Blackest Night, black rings descended on Okaara, Gretti returned as one of the Black Lantern Corps. Intent on destroying Larfleeze's orange Central Power Battery, the Black Lanterns were held at bay by Red Lantern Atrocitus and Blue Lantern Saint Walker.

POWERS AND WEAPONS
