HISTORY
Over a year ago, the Green Lantern Corps united to battle Superboy-Prime, arguably one of the most powerful beings in the universe. It took the might of the Corps, Superman, and the Superman of Earth 2 to finally bring Superboy-Prime down. Casualties were heavy; thirty-two Green Lanterns lost their lives. Superboy-Prime is currently being held on Oa, within a specially designed Sciencecell, at the heart of a miniature red-sun eater. Due to the extreme threat to the universe should Superboy-Prime escape, fifty Green Lanterns are watching at all times. They watch without the need for sleep or sustenance, constantly vigilant performing what is called "prime duty."
Markot Five was one of the Green Lanterns assigned this task, until released from prime duty by Green Lantern Salakk. His replacement was Honor Guard Lantern Guy Gardner, who had been punished for disobeying the orders of the Guardians of the Universe. -Green Lantern Vol. 4 #13
Recently, Markot Five and virtually all of the Corps came under the control of Krona and Parallax. They were amassed on Oa to form an army for the mad Guardian. - Green Lantern Corps Vol. 2 #58-59
