HISTORY

The Butcher is the rage entity which fuels the power rings of the Red Lantern Corps.

Barred from Earth ages ago by the Spectre, the Butcher and the rest of the entities representing the emotional spectrum have since arrived for better or for worse. Atrocitus, leader of the Red Lanterns sought out the Butcher in order to safeguard him from abduction by the renegade Guardian Krona. After briefly possessing James Kim, the father of a young murder victim, Atrocitus and the Spectre contained the rage entity within the Red Lantern power battery whereupon Atrocitus brought the entity to Ysmault. - Green Lantern Vol. 4 #61
