HISTORY

Exiled from his tribe of water-breathing people because of the color of his eyes (purple being seen as a bad omen), the child Garth was taken in and raised by the king of Atlantis, also known as Aquaman, soon becoming the hero Aqualad, a member of the Teen Titans. His team-mate and lover Aquagirl perished in the universe-spanning Crisis, leaving Garth distraught, though he has come to deal with his loss. Recently, he learned that he was the inheritor of great mystical power and spent a number of years being tutored in his new abilities, emerging (from a dimension where time passes differently) as Tempest, with tremendous power. He is a member of the new group of Titans and is currently trying to find Aquaman and the rest of Atlantis, who were removed to 'somewhere else' by Tempest's efforts to keep them safe.
