HISTORY
During the Blackest Night, Nekron had arrived on Earth to slay the Entity said to be responsible for first bring light and life into the universe. Sinestro sought to take control of the energy, armed with a White Lantern power ring but was defeated by Nekron and stripped of his power.
Next, Hal Jordan used the power to connect to those heroes that had died and been ressurrected by Nekron. Though many were Black Lanterns, their connection was severed and they were returned to life wielding the rings of the White Lantern Corps.
Focusing their power on Black Hand, they were able to restore the villain back to life as their costumes returned to normal and the power left them. - Blackest Night #8
