The purpose of the Unofficial Guide to the DC Universe is to provide Who's Who profiles on characters, places, organizations, and events in the DC Universe as well as character chronologies, series indexes and a history of the DC Universe itself.

The Guide was established in 1996 and is celebrating its 20th Anniversary this year. The current version of the Guide is wiki-based and open for everyone to join. However, in order to prevent spam and vandalism only users with editor status or higher are able to edit or create pages at this point . If you join the Guide please make your presence known on our message boards or facebook page so that we can grant you editor status.

On May 25th DC will be releasing a DC Universe Rebirth Special which holds secrets that will impact the entire DC Universe: past, present and future. We still don't have the details on what will happen but we have decided to give the DCU Guide a Rebirth of its own to reflect these changes. Some changes will be made within the next couple of months, with the full DCU Guide Rebirth happening this summer.

Due to the event known as ''Flashpoint'' the history of the DC Universe has been altered and nothing is exactly the same. Because of this we have created a companion site to focus solely on this new DC Universe. We hope you will all join us in making it the #1 resource to the new DC Universe as unlike the current Guide the new site will be one that everyone registered as a user can edit.

As you might have noticed the new DCU Guide uses a wiki format. However, unlike most wikis, only users with editor status or higher are able to edit or create pages. As soon as this changes or we decide on how to accept contributors we will let you know. As of now the number of selectable skins in the user preferences is limited but we hope to expand the options later.
