HISTORY

An evil supernatural female entity, foe of Zatanna and her father Zatara. When Zatanna was still an infant, Zatara battled Allura and defeated her by trapping her in the Sword of Paracelsus. However, Allura placed a curse on Zatara and his daughter – if they set eyes upon each other, they would both die. Zatara left his daughter without a word to keep them both safe, and to search for a way to undo the curse.

As an adult, the unknowing Zatanna searched countless dimensions to find her father. Eventually, Allura tricked Zatanna into freeing her and bringing her to the world of Kharma where Zatara now dwelled. The combined efforts of Zatanna, Zatara, magical duplicates of the JLA, and Allura's good twin (see Allura II) finally defeated the evil Allura and removed her curse. The evil Allura later returned to menace Zatanna again.
