OVERVIEW

Axis America was a super-powered team sponsored by the Axis powers during World War II. Its members have repeatedly clashed with their American counterparts All-Star Squadron and the Young All-Stars. In modern times, a new Nazi-oriented team of superhumans has used a similar name, Axis America.

HISTORY

Hitler's answer to the American All-Star Squadron, the first Axis Amerika was a team of super-powered agents of the Axis powers during World War II. The original team roster consisted mainly of German Nazi agents, including Übermensch I (a Superman-level strongman), The Great Horned Owl (Grosshorn Eule) and his sidekick (and son) Fledermaus, two gifted athletes, Gudra (a Valkyrie from Norse mythology), and the Sea Wolf (a water-breathing werewolf). Later, the Italian Usil (an archer) joined the group. Originally, Tsunami (I) was intended to be Japan's representative in the group, but she switched sides and joined the All-Star Squadron. In her place, Kamikaze (a living missile) stepped in. Axis Amerika clashed with the All-Star Squadron, and especially the Young All-Stars, on several occasions and were responsible for the death of the superhero T.N.T.. In turn, Fledermaus was killed by Fury (I) while she was possessed by the Greek deity Tisiphone.

The original Axis Amerika has not been seen since World War II and it is unknown whether they survived the fall of the German empire. They have no known connections to the new Axis America, foes of the JLA.
