CHARACTER HEAD SHOTS - USAGE

Head shots are meant as an addition to the character profiles and are shown in the upper right corner of the profile page.

The main purpose is to show a head shot of the character in his secret identity, but also has a couple of different purposes.

Secret Identity head shots

Secret Identity head shot files should be named after the real name of the character as listed in the profile followed by (head shot) and should be saved as png files.

Example: For "Batman (Bruce Wayne) (New 52)" the real name head shot file should be named "Bruce Wayne (New 52) (head shot).png"

If saved like this the script will automatically make the head shot appear on character profile pages.

Note: Secret Identity head shots will not automatically appear for characters from alternate Earths. These need to be defined in the Infobox_character template on the character profile page, see #Defining specific head shots in Infobox_character template

Character head shots

Character head shot files should generally be named the same as the page itself followed by (head shot) and should be saved as png files. Exceptions include Character head shots meant for membership listings in group profiles.

Example: For "Batman (Bruce Wayne) (New 52)" the character head shot file should be named "Batman (Bruce Wayne) (New 52) (head shot).png"

If saved like this the character profile script will add this head shot to the page in case a character image does not exist. In Batman's case a profile image exists so the character head shot will not be shown. Had the file been for a character without a character image the character head shot would appear.

Note: Character head shots are especially good for membership listings in group profiles. These head shots might be named differently than the character profile page as they are meant to reflect a specific time or different identity than the character's current identity. Example: "Batgirl (Cassandra Cain)" has a "Kasumi (Cassandra Cain) (head shot).png" file due to her appearance as Kasumi during her tenure in Justice League Elite.

Defining specific head shots in Infobox_character template

In Template:Infobox_character the head shot can be defined by using "headshot = (filename)" in the template. If defined in the template the image listed here will override the images automatically defined by the script.

Example: If "headshot = Robin (Damian Wayne) (New 52) (head shot).png" is defined the head shot appearing on the "Batman (Bruce Wayne) (New 52)" would be that of Robin rather than Batman.

Image dimensions

Preferred head shot size is 300x300px, but this is not required. They should be at least 125px wide though.
