Like that other exalted thespian, John Wilkes Booth, I will engrave my name in American history! - The Chameleon Quote taken from Jonah Hex #4 (September 1977): "The Day of the Chameleon" |
HISTORY
Self proclaimed as having the face of a god, the man known as the Chameleon was an actor driven off the stage by unappreciative audiences. Instead, inspired by John Wilkes Booth, the former actor set out on the "world stage" and became a hired killer.
Employed by Quentin Turnbull, the Chameleon impersonated Jonah Hex, framing the bounty hunter for robbery and murder. His efforts were undone when a sheriff realized the famed scar on "Jonah Hex" was on the wrong side of his face.
POWERS AND WEAPONS
The Chameleon may not have had sufficient talent to satisfy his audiences, but he did possess remarkable skill in disguises. He had a good ear for voices and was able to alter his own voice accordingly as part of his craft.
