HISTORY

An Ultimate Fighting Championship winner, Steven "Champ" Hazard turned to acting with his first movie making $300 million at the box office. During filming of his next movie in San Diego, Champ was arrogant, self-important and demanding. His latest rant was interrupted when a Zeta Beam transported him to the planet Rann.

When Rann's traditional protector, Adam Strange, was on a long overdue vacation, the fickle Rannians wanted a new hero to guard against menace. Champ Hazard gladly stepped into the role with a much harder and violent edge than the veteran Strange.

It would later be discovered that Champ had been infected with a virus related to the cosmic villain Lady Styx. The virus made Champ and many on Rann angry, blood thirsty and violent. Hostilites broke out rapidly as Rannians turned on each other.

The virus-ridden Champ Hazard was believed to have been killed by sterilizers utilized by the alien Healers who were combatting the infection on a number of worlds. In fact, he was transported to a fleet of starships in Space Sector 1151. His body was last seen being cybertnetically enhanced by servants of Lady Styx.
