HISTORY

When alive, Christopher Rudd was a mellow fencing instructor who, upon learning of his wife's adultery, killed an innocent boy in his anger. He was sentenced to death and subsequently spent the next 300 years in Hell, more specifically in the region of Effrul. Recently, the demonic Lady Lys chose Rudd as a lover and a plaything. Realizing that it would only be a matter of time before he was sent back to damnation again, Rudd decided to take the matter in his own hands. He weakened Lys by "infecting" her with human feelings of sorrow, regret and guilt through the drug called Pain. Then he helped avert a rebellion against Effrul's Lord Arux (Lys' father) after which he was awarded with the prestigious title of "Duke of Gly". Still later, he maneuvered Arux away from the throne while allying himself with Lucifer in the latter's battle against Amenadiel. Arux's rulership of Effrul instead went to his daughter Lys, who is now weak and perhaps easily manipulated by Rudd. Seemingly, Rudd still has human feelings that make him unique among demons. But he is ruthless in his struggle to save himself from an eternity of suffering by climbing the ranks of Hell's Hierarchy. Lucifer himself has theorized that Rudd could be a future contender of the very throne of Hell...
