HISTORY

The criminal organization known as the Crimson Star Mob was believed to have formed on the world of Zakkaria in Space Sector 2814. The Crimson Star Mob was ruthlessly controlled by Izar the Zakkarian and owned the illegal weapons market until the arrival of Amon Sur of Ungara.

Amon Sur was the leader of the Black Circle Syndicate and a bitter rival of the Crimson Star Mob. When the Black Circle came into the possession of weapons using quantum singularities, Izar the Zakkarian knew he faced a formidable threat. Izar learned Amon Sur’s success was due to the work of four outsiders quite familiar with weaponry. Hailing from the anti-matter universe, the foursome was from the Weaponers of Qward. When the Crimson Star Mob was able to kidnap the Qwardians, Izar sent a recording to Amon Sur in which he personally executed one of the four. Izar ordered the continuing torture of the remaining three until they would give up the secrets of their work for the Black Circle Syndicate.

The Crimson Star Mob found their outpost on Zakkaria under attack by agents of Amon Sur. Led by Mr. Vasquez, secretly Green Lantern Kyle Rayner, a small assault team comprised of former Green Lanterns Voz, Bynari, Shilandra Thane and Reemuz quickly overpowered the Crimson Star resistance. Izar tried to escape with the Qwardians still his captives, but Mr. Vasquez easily stopped him. Though Mr. Vasquez told Kerina of the Black Circle that he had killed Izar the Zakkarian, the undercover Green Lantern had instead sent Izar to Gaolus, a maximum-security penitentiary planet in Space Sector 2112. - Green Lantern Vol. 3 #172
