HISTORY

As recorded in the Book of Oa, in the Earth year 1944 the mercenary Dask N'Oir escaped the Sciencells on Oa and made off with a cache of forbidden weaponry. How Dask N'Oir originally became a prisoner, how he made his escape, and how he was able to get his hands on weaponry in the process has yet to be revealed.

Dask N'Oir made his way to Earth, a planet he had observed which was in the throes of a world war. Of particular interest to him was Germany's National Socialist Party. Though an implanted translator enabled him to understand the languages of the humans he met, the Germans were more frightened by N'Oir's appearance than interested in hiring his services. The mercenary slaughtered them without regret. He quickly dealt with two of Earth's protectors, Jay Garrick the Golden Age Flash and Alan Scott the Golden Age Green Lantern.

The Guardians of the Universe dispatched a member of the Green Lantern Corps, Abin Sur of Ungara, to apprehend Dask N'Oir and prevent the discovery of any extraterrestrial involvement. The mercenary was prepared for interference from the Corps. A weapon covered the Green Lantern's power ring with a yellow liquid which quickly solidified, rendering the ring ineffective. After knocking Abin Sur unconscious, Dask N'Oir relieved the Ungaran of his power ring.

Dask N'oir moved on, trying to find Berlin. Abin Sur caught up to the mercenary, who was now using his power ring. Evidentally, Dask N'Oir must not have realized Alan Scott wielded a power ring, as he thought Abin Sur was utilizing a spare ring. N'oir found he could not wield the stolen power ring as well as the Green Lantern and so he used the same weapon he had used before against the Ungaran. This was exactly what Abin Sur had hoped he would do. Abin Sur did not have a spare power ring, he was using the magical power ring of Alan Scott which did not have a weakness to the color yellow. When Dask N'Oir fired the weapon, the Green Lantern funneled it back upon the mercenary, covering his foe and the Oan power ring. The Green Lantern then took back his power ring, returned the magical power ring to the still unconscious Alan Scott, and erased any evidence of his and Dask N'oir's actions on Earth.

The mercenary Dask N'oir was returned to his Oan Sciencell. He has not been heard of since. - Green Lantern Corps Quarterly #8
