HISTORY

Described as the ultimate chemical mimic by his creator, Maxwell Tremayne, "Even Steven" is an artificial man. Steven was sent by Tremayne to kidnap Sapphire Stagg at her wedding to Metamorpho (Rex Mason) as the deluded Tremayne believed Sapphire to be her mother, Mara who he was in love with years ago. Ultimately, Even Steven's act of mimicking Rex Mason had the effect of causing Steven to fall in love with Sapphire as well. Even Steven gave his life to stop his creator from harming the woman he loved, slaying Tremayne in the process.
