HISTORY

The Earth of the 73rd Century boasts many scientific achievements, yet threats to life still abound. Fifteen hundred years after the disappearance of Pol Manning, the Green Lantern Corps still stands ready to fight against evil.

Oddly enough, the Green Lantern of this future Earth was threatened by a champion of the distant past. Adam Strange, hero of Earth and Rann in the twentieth century, was a villain in the year 7243.

What appeared to be a dangerous tornado to Adam Strange was actually an artificial spiral whirlwind used by the people of Earth to remove impurities from the air. Adam Strange blasted the whirlwind causing it to explode and spread those impurities all over the city. The Green Lantern of the 73rd Century moved to stop Strange but the hero from the past vanished as the emerald power beam touched him.

Strange was soon brought back to the 73rd Century where he again fought the Green Lantern. Somehow, Strange's ray-gun was able to absorb the power ring energy and blast it back at his emerald attacker.

At the request of Stange's wife, Alanna, the Justice League of America of the 20th Century went to the future to find her husband. They teamed up with the Green Lantern and learned that Zeta particle residue had a number of side effects on Strange. Though he had used the Zeta-Beam for the trip back and forth to Rann from Earth, the beam had recently been modified to allow him to stay on Rann. Now this residue energy was shunting him through time as well as space. The particles effected his mind, compelling him to fight anything he considered a menace. In addition, the altered Zeta particles charged his ray-gun with infinite power.

The heroes planned to get Adam Strange to release the bulit-up Zeta energy in his body by getting him to fire the ray-gun. Though they were hit by the ray blast, no effects were noticed. Strange eventually burned off the Zeta energy and returned to normal. Believing they were successful, the Justice League returned to Rann of the 20th Century with Strange, leaving the Green Lantern to his future world.
