Synopsis:
Tigress steals the diamond from Hawkgirl and Danny Evans, who are then attacked by some military men also in the employ of Mr. Roderic. Meanwhile, Hawkman, Jayita, Copperhead and Shadow Thief find themselves in the Battlelands, a fold in reality created by Shiva to keep the descendants of Ganesha safe. The door to this land can only be opened from the outside. They find themselves under attack by the elephant-like Komeriah, then rescued by the blue-skinned Makhna, who take them as guests to the city of Om.
The mayor of St. Roch is slain by someone who looks suspiciously like Green Arrow, and Hawkgirl reveals to Danny that she is Kendra Saunders. In Om, Hawkman discovers that the Komeriah are the slaves of the Makhna. When he expresses his anger at this, he and Shadow Thief are put in chains and made to work in the mines alongside them.
