Image Guidelines |
When uploading images to the DCU Guide Wiki please follow these guidelines.
Please include the Images template from Template:Images when adding images and assign the right "image_type". A more detailed description of what to include in the template can be found below.
Cover Images [image_type = cover]
The preferred size for cover images is 395px wide x 610 px high, and the preferred format is png (jpg's are also accepted). For the time being smaller images might appear on various comics as we have copied some images from the old site where the images were a lot smaller.
Cover images should be scans of the actual books and not "virgin covers" (covers without logo, barcodes and so on) or include watermarks of any kind.
Naming of cover images. The file name should follow the same standards as the comics themselves, with a couple of exeptions. The number should be three digits long so the cover for issue one should be named 001. For instance, the cover for Booster Gold Vol. 2 #1 is named Booster Gold Vol. 2 001.png just as the link for the book is Booster Gold Vol. 2 1.
If a comic has two or more covers (Cover B, C, D, etc.) is added at the end of the cover name. For instance, cover B for Booster Gold Vol. 2 #1 is named Booster Gold Vol. 2 001 (Cover B).png.
In the template you can add which book it is a cover of, and add credits for the artist, penciller, inker, colorist and letterer.
Character Images [image_type = character]
There are different types of character images, most important of which is the main profile image.
The main profile image is the image located next to the personal data. The preferred size for these images is a width of 500 px for standard vertical images and up to 600 px for horisontal images. Smaller images are acceptable for supporting characters and/or minor characters. Please note that the profile images without any speech balloons or captions are preferred. If a proper image cannot be found without these things the image can be photoshopped/edited. If you do not have the ability to do so an image (preferably 500 px wide) can be uploaded and a link to the file posted in on the Discussions page of the character in question and we will see if we can do it. If speech ballons or captions cannot be avoided don't cut it so that the text is cut in half.
Right now the profiles don't include any other images aside from the profile image but we are open to adding action shots and final appearance (death) shots as well in the time ahead.
In the template you should add the name of the character as it appears in the Wiki url (e.g. "Booster Gold (Michael Jon Carter)" for Booster Gold) so that it will link properly to the profile and add any additional information available such as artist, penciller, inker and colorist.
