Synopsis:
Something is racing through America at super-speed, cutting people down where they stand, and the members of the JSA are coming under attack from the villains of the Injustice Society. Black Canary and Doctor Mid-Nite's first date is interrupted by Count Vertigo, and Wildcat and Sand come up against Geomancer and Killer Wasp at a cinema.
At the JSA HQ, the high speed murders are found to be occuring in locations which spell out a name which Jay Garrick recognizes: Clariss, a former scientist who became crazed when he duplicated the accident that created the Flash many years ago. And now he's out for revenge on Jay for defeating him - the end of the trail leads to his wife, Joan. The Icicle, Shiv and Tigress break into the JSA building, aided by the consciousness of the deceased Clifford Devoe, the Thinker, who has been watching the team for some time. The Tigress attacks Sentinel with a shaft of wood taken from the supposedly deceased Blackbriar Thorn, which causes him a serious injury, not least because Thorn reforms himself from it.
The Thinker seals off the HQ as Terrific attempts to attend to Sentinel's injury. Meanwhile, Jay catches up with Rival, Wildcat is knocked out by Black Adam and Johnny Sorrow visits Louis Sendak, once the Scarab, and threatens to unleash the mysterious and terrible King of Tears.
