Synopsis:
After the recent events, the JSA's headquarters is being fitted with a new security system by Kord Industries. While overseeing this, Sand also has to deal with Black Adam who asks to join the Justice Society. He is refused, but in the course of the conversation reveals his certainty that the Flash will return from wherever he went to. Sand then has a difficult conversation with Hawkgirl over her recent strange behavior and her troubled past, but Hawkgirl flies away from him at speed, saying that she doesn't even want to be a hero. Meanwhile, the other members of the JSA are attending to more personal matters.
While Hawkgirl wonders about the mess her life is in, she is suddenly confronted by the angel Zauriel. High among the clouds, Hawkgirl tells Zauriel of her parents' murder and her two suicide attempts, plus her strange recurring dreams in which she is accompanied by a man called Khufu. Far in the past, the Flash has earned the trust of that same Khufu, prince of Egypt and is shown a great marvel: an alien ship, which he recognizes as Thanagarian in design, which crash-landed in the Egyptian desert millennia ago.
Back in the present, Mister Terrific and the Star-Spangled Kid visit some kids in Harlem, taking J.J. Thunder along with them. Plus, Hawkgirl talks to Zauriel about reincarnation, and the incredible age of her soul. She learns an interesting and disturbing fact about herself: her second suicide attempt was successful; Kendra Saunders is dead, someone else inhabits her body now...
