OVERVIEW
King Shark is the fruit of the union between a Hawaiian woman and a shark god. He has repeatedly clashed with Superboy.
HISTORY
King Shark, or Nanaue (his real name), is a mutant. His father was a shark god, his mother is a local Hawaiian. His father told his mother that if she bore his child, she would bring to the world a new shark god for the Hawaiians to worship. She still believed Nanaue was a godsend and treated him as such, despite his homicidal tendencies. He was protected by his family and let to do as he pleased for years before things just got way out of hand.
According to Sam Makoa, King Shark and he crossed once, as Nanaue was tearing through humans like they were Big Belly burgers. Makoa stopped him with some hand grenades and such, but just barely. He went to Kulani Prison, but was freed by the Silicon Dragons in hopes that he would work for them. The agents involved in that rescue paid for that mistake with their lives.
The second time King Shark hit Hawaii, Superboy was around. Superboy was disgusted to learn that King Shark felt hungry, went over to his mother's place, and ate her arm! Superboy had just received a prosthetic weapon he wore for a little while called "super-specs." He and King Shark duked it out under water, and since Superboy needs air to breathe, he was at a disadvantage. Fortunately for him, his super specs supplied him with heat vision, which knocked King Shark out cold. He was placed back in Kulani prison. In this battle, King Shark actually managed to cut Superboy with his claws, a feat very few have been able to accomplish.
The next time they met they were on the same side. King Shark was enlisted in the Suicide Squad to help take down the Silicon Dragons. To make sure he would comply with their demands, He and Sam Makoa (who led the team), wore gear that was linked to each other. King Shark was fitted with a belt which would explode if he misbehaved or the belt was tampered with. It was also rigged that if Makoa died, so would the Shark.
King Shark proved to be the most brutal and malicious of the squad, which is pretty hard since they are all pretty much psycho. As the story turns out, one of their members, Captain Boomerang, was an informant to the Dragons, and they were ambushed before they had much of a chance for an offensive. King Shark, realizing his life would end if anything happened to Makoa, swam out towards another end of the base to create a major offensive. He was successful, and cut through the agents. Sidearm followed Makoa after he and King Shark pretty well saved each others lives, and told him to find a way to get him back to dry land or he would kill him. That's when King Shark killed Sidearm, to save themselves once again.
As this confrontation drew to a close, Knockout grabbed King Shark and tore off his belt, resulting in a huge explosion which destroyed the Silicon Dragons' base. It was assumed that both of them were also dead, but each turned up unharmed some time later.
King Shark ran into Superboy at a much later date, again trying to kill the people sitting out on the beach. Superboy was still learning much about his tactile telekinesis, and realized he can also manipulate water with it, using this realization to blow King Shark away.
POWERS AND WEAPONS
King Shark is a cannibalizing, homicidal maniac. Born of a shark god father and a human mother, King Shark is a half-shark/half-man mutant. He can breathe in and out of the water, has super strength, invulnerability, agility, and has teeth and claws which can cut just about anything, even Superboy.
