HISTORY
All heroes who had missed out on admission to the Legion of Super-Heroes, the Subs were Polar Boy, Night Girl, Chlorophyll Kid, Stone Boy and Fire Lad with Polar Boy as leader. Later they were joined by Color Kid, Porcupine Pete and Infectious Lass plus Substitute Auxiliaries Antennae Boy and Double-Header. Former legionnaires Dream Girl and Star Boy joined the Subs for a time after they were expelled from the Legion. The Subs were integrated to the Legion Reserve and served for years behind the scenes. After the disbanding of the team, some members finally made it to the Legion, then later joined Earth's resistance movement against the Dominators.
A second Legion of Substitute Heroes was later formed under extraordinary circumstances at a time when no Legionnaire was available. This team comprised Cosmic Boy, Night Girl, Bouncing Boy, Duo Damsel, Comet Queen and Karate Kid II.
