Synopsis: - J'onn realizes that his demonic-looking tormentor, who claims he has come to 'release the Son of Mars from his prison', is the Martian deity H'ronmeer. J'onn knows him as the god of death, fire and lies, but H'ronmeer sees himself as the god of life and light. He says that much of J'onn's memory is faulty, but he is not believed; the two engage in battle high in the atmosphere. Here, J'onn is eventually found by his JLI colleagues who take him to the League's Rome embassy. H'ronmeer follows, and one by one the Leaguers fall, until the god is challenged by Mister Miracle. As Miracle is of divine origin, H'ronmeer shares his mind with him and is allowed to take J'onn away. Feeling betrayed, J'onn is brought to the home of a man he had thought long dead - Dr. Erdel, the man who brought him to Earth.
