"I am power of ancient days. I am she who walks in fire. She who counts ages as mortals count minutes. I am Morgaine Le Fey!" |
OVERVIEW
Ancient sorceress Morgaine Le Fey was the sworn enemy of King Arthur, Merlin and Etrigan, and has remained a threat to society up to modern times. Over the last few years, she has clashed with several of Earth's metahuman defenders, for example Wonder Woman, Superman and her age-old enemy Etrigan.
HISTORY
The true origins of the extremely long-lived enchantress Morgaine Le Fey remains a mystery. Legend has it that she was the sister of Arthur Pendragon, king of Medieval Britain and lord of Camelot. The exploits of the Knights of the Round Table are the stuff of legends.
In the latter half of the 6th century, Morgaine led her forces of evil in one final siege against Camelot. The wizard Merlin was forced to call upon the assistance of Etrigan, but even the fury of a demon proved insufficient against overwhelming odds. Merlin gave Etrigan a page from his Eternity Book for safekeeping, knowing that Morgaine would sometime need the Eternity Book to restore her life and beauty. Trapped inside the form of the man Jason Blood, Etrigan made his way into the wilderness as the glory that was Camelot fell prey to flames.
The whereabouts of Morgaine Le Fey for the next centuries remains largely unknown, but she was most likely searching for ways to rejuvenate herself. In 1162, she is known to have set a trap which would eventually transform people into crystalline buildings, but her plans where twarthed by a time-travelling Superman and Etrigan.
When Etrigan was finally released from the form of Jason Blood in modern times, Morgaine Le Fey sensed his awakening and has since then hatched plot after plot in order to secure her own youth and immortality and finally kill Merlin's demon Etrigan.
POWERS AND WEAPONS
Morgaine Le Fey is well versed in all forms of magic, especially the black arts. Her powers are said to rival, or even surpass those of Merlin.
Morgaine Le Fey wears a protective armor, which may or may not have lifesustaining properties. Her protective armour also protects against accidental damage from Morgaine’s destructive touch, which causes decay. It is not known whether her touch is constantly corrosive or merely a side effect when her skin is in an aged state.
