HISTORY

A supernatural behemoth from "the Dark Side of the Moon" – in reality the planet Yzgartyl. Ages ago, Oom roamed the Earth and committed innumerable murders to satisfy his thirst for blood. When satiated, he rested for centuries on Yzgartyl. In 1940, Oom returned to Earth, and took the form of a giant bronze statue in New York. Every full moon, the statue came alive and committed gruesome murders. When the Spectre interfered, a raging battle ensued, but the Spectre finally defeated Oom and imprisoned his soul in an artifact called the Red Moonstone of Yzgartyl. Oom’s corporeal form became a normal statue. A couple of years later, Oom returned and joined Nyola’s Society of Evil, but was defeated by the All-Star Squadron.
