HISTORY

Once a member of the Guardians of the Universe, he who would become the Pale Bishop felt an overwhelming sense of fear. Exiling himself, he purged all emotions, or at least believed he did. The Pale Bishop created an anti-emotion religion known as the Paling which crossed space, drawn to destroy emotion and consume entire cultures, enslaving those that survived.

Thousands of years ago, the Pale Bishop and the Paling reached Earth. Choosing Kahndaq as the most advanced civilization on the planet at the time, they faced that nation's protector, Black Adam. The Paling was driven off and the Pale Bishop was defeated, believed dead and entombed for seemingly all eternity.

In the 21st Century, Sinestro and Black Adam visited the tomb. Sinestro's fear powered ring woke the skeletonized remains of the Pale Bishop and once more the Paling threatened Earth. The Pale Bishop quickly regenerated. The Sinestro Corps came to the world's defense, with Sinestro greatly expanding its ranks by conscripting member's of Earth's superhuman population. Ultimately, Sinestro tapped into the Pale Bishop's own fear, an emotion not expelled but only deeply held. This enabled the master of the Sinestro Corps to defeat the Pale Bishop and his vicars fell quickly thereafter.

POWERS AND WEAPONS

The Pale Bishop presumably has or at one point had the same powers of the Guardians of the Universe, though this may have changed across the millennia. He has demonstrated the power of flight, survival in space and the ability to burn the emotion out of sentient beings, leaving a living husk subservient to the Paling.
