HISTORY
Pooch was originally Billy, a puppy assigned to the World War II U.S. Army K-9 Corps together with several of his siblings. (One of which would later become Rex the Wonder Dog). Eventually, Billy became the pet of the Marines Gunner and Sarge, who were the ones who started calling Billy "Pooch". Pooch also joined Gunner and Sarge when they became part of the special war unit known as the Losers. In the course of his duties, Pooch was wounded multiple times and given the honorary rank of sergeant. In 1945, he was gunned down and killed by enemy fire alongside the rest of the Losers.
