HISTORY

The Rock of Eternity is the fundament of the Power of Shazam, tapping into the energies of gods and heroes of legend and distributing them to the heroes of the Marvel Family. The Rock was created circa 7500 BC by the wizard Shazam (then named Vlarem) who still dwells in a chamber inside the Rock. (For a while, Ibis guarded the Rock in Shazam’s place.) Inside the Rock, Shazam has imprisoned several threats to humanity, like the Seven Deadly Enemies of Man and the Three Faces of Evil. Since the Rock is a nexus point between Earth and countless other dimensions, it can be used for interdimensional travel. The villainous Sivana once used the Rock to re-write history, but Shazam and the Captains Marvel managed to turn everything right again.

In the 31st century of the universe containing Earth-247, the Rock will be reconstructed by the Legion of Super-Heroes to defeat Pernisus. It will be destroyed again in the 90th century by a Dr. Savant, but is apparently restored in the 853rd century.
