HISTORY

If there is such a thing as an entire town tainted with evil, Rosewood, Illinois, would probably fit the bill. Years ago, a punk named Stiv transformed the population into Vampires. During a clash between the Vampires and the Swamp Thing (IV), Vampire Slayers Larry and Steven Childress blew up the neighboring dam, and the subsequent flood killed most of the Vampires. However, survivors adapted to life under water. In a second clash, Swamp Thing used his elemental powers to manifest himself as a mountainside forest and destroyed all the remaining Rosewood Vampires in the streams of running water.

Still later, during the "War of the Gods", Animal Man visited the town, which now experienced another flooding. This time, the townspeople were transformed into hideous beast-men by the sorceress Circe. Animal sensed the evil that tainted the population, and showed no remorse after he had to kill the savage beasts.
