OVERVIEW

Though there had been many super-villain teams since the 1947 formation of Injustice Society of the World up to and including the various line-ups of the Secret Society of Super-Villains, no villain team had as much an effect as the Society. Formed by Lex Luthor, the Society was first presented to the villain community as a response to the perceived threat of the Justice League and the fear of "mind-wipes" at the hands of the heroes. Once membership in the Society was offered, anything less than acceptance could have fatal consequences. Though an official count may not be available, it is said the Society was able to grow to over three hundred members.
