OVERVIEW

Cyril "Speed" Saunders was a two-fisted ace police investigator (first of the River Patrol and then working in the streets of New York) in the late 1930s. During World War II, he joined the Office of Strategic Service (O.S.S.) and was also a frequent ally of the JSA. He is the cousin of Shiera Sanders, a.k.a. Hawkgirl I, and the grandfather of Kendra Saunders, the current Hawkgirl (who is also the reincarnation of Hawkgirl I.) Although he must at least be in his late 80s, Speed Saunders is still a very active adventurer and thrillseeker.
