two astronomers (first appearance for both)

Location(s):

Space Sector 2814
an unidentified asteroid (formerly in the vicinity of Krypton; see Comments)
Earth
an astronomical observatory (location not specified)
Smallville

Comment(s):

The asteroid was likely in the vicinity of Krypton when the planet exploded. As it was not of Krypton itself, it did not become kryptonite but due to its size and gravitation pull collected kryptonite dust in its atmosphere. Then, like the rest of the debris from Krypton turning up on Earth; was somehow pulled through the space warp created by baby Kal-El's rocket. Over the years, the dust would slowly condense and fall on the asteroid.
This story was recycled as Adventure Comics #276 (September 1960): "The Robinson Crusoe of Space!"
