HISTORY

Born on the planet Krypton, Kal-L was sent to Earth in a model space rocket his father Jor-L had built. On Earth Kal-L was discovered and adopted by John and Mary Kent and given the name Clark Kent. As he grew up he gradually discovered his super-powers. After his parents died Clark decided to use his abilities as Superman, while concealing his real identity. His first feat as Superman in April, 1938 got Clark a job as a reporter at the Metropolis Daily Star. Here he met Lois Lane whom, after a lengthy courtship, he would marry.

Superman was a charter member of the premier hero group of the time, the Justice Society of America, and after America's entry into World War II he joined the All-Star Squadron.

After the War, Superman continued his crime-fighting, mostly solo, but occasionally teaming with his earth's Batman and Robin counterparts.

Due to the effects of a spell cast by The Wizard, Superman lost his powers and all memory of his Superman identity for nearly a year at the end of the 1940s and finally married Lois. She discovered his secret identity and after reacquiring his abilities and memories, chose to include her in his fight for justice.

When his editor at the Daily Star stepped down, Kent accidentally became the choice for Editor and chose that role instead of his reporters chores.

As the 1950s progressed, more and more of his former friends from the Justice Society married and began families, including Bruce Wayne. As the years wore on, he was secretly despondant that he had no one to pass his mantle on to, but this was allieved when his cousin finally arrived from the planet Krypton, now a teenager but born the same time as him decades earlier. Secretly training his cousin Kara, she broke out onto the scene brashly, joining the re organized Justice Society on a case as Power Girl.

Satisfied that she would make a fine contribution to the fight against crime, Clark began to retire from his activities with the Society.

At the end of the event known as Crisis, Superman joined Lois, the Earth-Prime Superboy and Alexander Luthor, Jr. (Earth-3 - Pre-Crisis Multiverse) in another dimension. All four recently returned to the new merged Earth that the Crisis had resulted in.
