Synopsis:
On the day of his retirement from active duty, the Guardians of the Universe reveal to Green Lantern Tomar-Re that had Krypton not exploded, Kal-El would have risen up as leader of the Green Lantern Corps, independent of the Guardians. Though Tomar-Re had been gathering stellarium to dampen the reaction at the planet's core, as exploding nova blinded and delayed him. The loss of Krypton might not be seen as a failure as Kal-El fulfilled a greater destiny as Superman.
