HISTORY

Born in Sezze, Italy, Tony Dante and his brother Salvatore's childhoods were marked by the death of their parents. Their Uncle Gulio could only support one of the boys, so Tony was sent to America to live with his Uncle Pietro. He promised his sweetheart Therese Annetto he would return and they would marry.

Years later, with the outbreak of the Second World War and the death of his Uncle Pietro, Tony Dante enlisted in the military. He was member of Sgt. Rock's Easy Company during the battle of Anzio when he made his way back to his hometown to seek out Therese. There he found Salvatore had become mayor of Sezze and allied with the Italian fascists. He also learned Therese had married Salvatore, believing his lies that Tony had turned to crime in America and had died.
