OVERVIEW

The Tornado Champion, a living whirlwind, is one incarnation of a being who has been hero and villain, robot and wind elemental, and anything in between.

HISTORY

Starting its life as the evil Tornado Tyrant on the planet Rann, the creature was defeated by Adam Strange and lingered in limbo for years. After observing the heroic Justice League of America fighting the menace of Kanjar Ro, the former Tyrant decided to become a hero. Immensely powerful, the Tornado Champion (as he now called itself) created a duplicate of Earth and transformed itself to that Earth's version of the JLA. However, the Champion's evil persona, the Tornado Tyrant, resurfaced and crushed the "Justice League". By observing the real JLA in action again, the Champion was able to defeat his evil self.

Still later, the Champion took possession of a robotic creation of T.O. Morrow, thereby creating the new hero called the Red Tornado, who had no recollection of his former incarnations. Since then, both the Champion and the Tyrant personas have resurfaced from the Red Tornado's body on a couple of occasions.
