OVERVIEW

Triumph is the founding member of the Justice League of America that no one remembers. Lost in time during the JL's first mission, his existence was wiped from the main timeline. He returned during Zero Hour and tried to re-establish himself as a hero and a member of the Justice League Task Force. After making a deal with the devil Neron, his history was once again altered, and Triumph turned evil. He was later turned into an ice statue and was presumably destroyed along with the JL headquarters.

HISTORY

Triumph is a tragic case of a "hero that never was". In a past that nobody remembers but himself, Will MacIntyre was the engineer who first brought the founders of the Justice League together, but disappeared after destroying an alien time/space warp in the League's first mission. As a result, any record of his existence was completely removed from the main timeline.

As Triumph, MacIntyre returned during the Zero Hour and managed to convince the League of his history. Because the other founding members of the Justice League had aged and gained more experience during Triumph's lost decade, Triumph reluctantly joined the Justice League Task Force in order to train with other young heroes under the tutelage of the Martian Manhunter (J'onn J'onzz). Triumph never felt comfortable in the task force and was ultimately fired by J'onn J'onzz because of his disobedience and bad behavior. However, Triumph inadvertently accepted an offer from Neron and sold his soul to regain the 10 lost years of his life. What he didn't count on was that this meant that all his Justice League involvement was erased from history once again.

Embittered, Triumph started a rogue career selling stolen JLA artifacts. Among them, he found a pen housing the genie called Lkz from the 5th dimension. Allying himself with the genie, Triumph attacked the League and attempted to re-instate it with himself as leader, while Lkz created chaos on Earth on behalf of the evil imp Qwsp. The JLA and the JSA combined forces and defeated the villains with help from the Spectre, who turned Will into an ice sculpture. Presumably, the "iced" Triumph was destroyed later on along with the JL headquarters. It has been theorized that Triumph turned evil so easily because he had already sold his soul to Neron.

Some time later, Raven of the Teen Titans and Supergirl came across Jonathan Mitchell, the unknown son of Triumph, who flickered in and out of existence depending on the status of his father. Raven created an image of Triumph, convincing Jonathan to stop his superhuman rampage. Jonathan then disappeared.

In the alternate timeline where the Trinity of Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman had been replaced, Triumph gave his life to save Tomorrow Woman, another time-lost member of the JLA. If this truly was the original Triumph or an alternate version is not known with certainty.

POWERS AND WEAPONS

Triumph has electromagnetic powers, which enables him to create force fields, emit electric eye beams, transfer electric current, absorb energy and interpret radio and TV signals.
