HISTORY
The city of Vanity, Oregon, has been described as a skyline of depression and hopelessness. Its unique architecture was created by a Clarence Vane, who based it on several bizarre European art movements. The effect has been likened to "sick building syndrome" by some. Vanity affects people in strange ways. The suicide rate in Vanity is five times the US average, and the city's once so heroic protectors, Mister America II and Liberty Lass, evolved through the years into the ruthless avengers known as Bloodtype and Death-Doll.
In recent years, the ancient Q-Society sent their champion, the heroic Aztek, to Vanity. Aztek became a welcome light in the dark-gray city and protected it against evil until he sacrificed himself in battle against Mageddon.
