HISTORY

Matthew Ryder comes from a future ruled by the evil Monarch, who was known to have been one of the twentieth century's super-heroes. Ryder was sent back in time to discover which one, and was converted into a being of energy tachyons. After failing to prevent the hero Hawk from becoming Monarch, Waverider was invited to join the Linear Men, a group of time researchers, including an alternate version of himself, from a future where Monarch did not rule. Waverider can move effortlessly through the time stream.
