HISTORY

Wise Owl was a long-lived Native American shaman in who, in the 19th century, encountered one Lazarus Lane who lay comatose after a lightning strike. Wise Owl could magically bring him out of his coma for brief periods, but only as the supernatural hero El Diablo. Later, it was revealed that Wise Owl was a ruthless manipulator who used Lane to his own agenda. In 1872, Wise Owl was apparently killed by the Western Johnny Thunder and Madame .44, although his body mysteriously disappeared soon afterward. Wise Owl was also the uncle-in-law of Tomahawk.
