HISTORY

A massive space station in the shape of a DNA helix, Wombworld is used by the Psions to experiment upon and study those unfortunate enough to be captured. Under orders from Psion Homeworld, retrieval of specimens from the Vega System were limited to those presumed dead by their fellow Vegans, which kept knowledge of the existence of Wombworld limited. This also kept the number of specimens limited at times, causing murderous stand-offs between the Psion staffers.

Wombworld is comprised of twenty-eight biolinks, encompassing a variety of difficult-to-survive environments, some complete with miniature suns and atmospheres. Research areas are located beneath the survival surfaces while centralized shafts connect the links to Wombworld's axis. Viathan ports are located on the axis in the heart of the Psion control centers and the great space-faring beasts bring new materials to the facility.

The facility had been controlled by Artin, an artificial intelligence. The then-current leader of Wombworld refused to recognize Artin had become self-aware and sought freedom.
