HISTORY

Born and raised on Thoron, Halk Kar visited the planet Krypton where he met Jor-L, father of Superman. Knowing Krypton's eventual fate, the scientist gave a copy of the starchart he would use for Kal-L and sent the visitor from Thoron back to the stars before Krypton's destruction.

Caught in the wake of the massive blast, Halk Kar blacked out and fell into suspended animation for many years, ultimately arriving on Earth as an amnesiac where he met the now grown Kal-L. The two saw the star chart from Jor-L and determined - incorrectly - that Halk Kar was an older brother of Superman. The reduced powers of Halk Kar were incorrectly believed to be a result of his years in suspended animation. Eventually, a massive electrical charge restored Halk Kar's memory where he could explain his meeting with Jor-L and deduce his lesser powers were due to the relatively smaller size of Thoron as compared to Krypton. Superman was able to assist with repairs to Halk Kar's spacecraft, and his "big brother" returned to Thoron.

POWERS AND WEAPONS

Halk Kar could leap far but not sustain flight, had super strength and speed but for a limited time. He did not have a Jryptonian's invulnerability or optical powers such as x-ray vision.
