HISTORY
Partnered with Raker Qarrigat of Wolsoon, Kraken is the second Green Lantern of Apokolips. It has not been revealed if Kraken is a native of Apokolips, or like Raker Qarrigat she is an off-worlder assigned to Darkseid's world. Kraken strongly believes in justice, a trait not commonly found in the Hunger Dogs of Apokolips, nor is there any evidence that Kraken may be a New God.
At some point, Raker Qarrigat was captured by Darkseid in a move to crush hope amongst the people of Apokolips. Kraken rescued from years of torture and imprisonment in Desaad's dungeons. Though it is rumored that Kraken has been targeted by the Female Furies, the threat may never be fulfilled since the death of the New Gods.
Both Kraken and Raker Qarrigat were recalled from Apokolips to serve in the Sinestro Corps War. Battling on Earth to defeat the Anti-Monitor, the Green Lanterns pulled the Manhunters’ mobile base, Warworld, from the skies. It came crashing down upon the master of the anti-matter universe. Warworld's power core detonated as well as the Sinestro Corps’ Central Power Battery. Though the Anti-Monitor was not killed, he was gravely injured. Superman-Prime then took the opportunity to attack his hated foe by tearing apart his armor and throwing him into deep space. The Sinestro Corps and their allies were defeated. Those that did not die in battle were either captured or escaped into space.
Kraken has recently been selected to become the one of the first of the Alpha-Lanterns. Recognizing the power she would wield could help in their war against the forces of Apokolips, Kraken accepted the honor. So-called "cosmic surgery" has altered her into something more than a Green Lantern. She is now part Manhunter, and serves as a type of "internal affairs" officer within the Green Lantern Corps.
The Alpha-Lanterns were present at the trial and expulsion of the Green Lantern of Sector 112, Laira of Jayd, from the Green Lantern Corps.
Unbeknownst to Earth’s heroes, the Guardians, or the Green Lantern Corps, Kraken has been taken over by one of the Gods of Apokolips, Granny Goodness. She had been responsible for the attack on John Stewart and forcible abduction of Batman. Presumably on Oa, the Central Power Battery in within her grasp.
POWERS AND WEAPONS
As a Green Lantern, Kraken possessed a power ring and power battery.
