HISTORY

Years ago, a punk named Stiv cursed the population of Rosewood with a vampire plague, and Vampires took over the town. During a clash between the vampires and the Swamp Thing, vampire Slayers Larry and Steven Childress blew up the neighboring dam. The subsequent flood killed most of the vampires. However, vampires are vulnerable to running water only. After the water currents had calmed down, survivors adapted to life under water.

During the course of events known as "American Gothic", these vampires committed a long-awaited ritual, fertilizing a bloated Mother Vampire who gave birth to a powerful Sea Vampire even the Swamp Thing could not defeat. Swamp Thing then used his newly-realized elemental powers to manifest himself as a mountainside forest. With his roots, he agitated the entire area, forcing the still water out of Rosewood. Unable to escape, the Vampire Spawn and all the Rosewood Vampires were destroyed in the streams of running water.
