HISTORY
In the existence prior to the current universe, the Emotional Spectrum was not merely present but refined, and for eons, its energies were utilized in profound harmony by seven distinct alien races, collectively known as the Lightsmiths.

These factions included the Red Lightsmiths of Fury, the Orange Lightsmiths of Gluttony, the Yellow Lightsmiths of Terror, the Green Lightsmiths of Resolve, the Blue Lightsmiths of Faith, the Indigo Lightsmiths of Empathy, and the Violet Lightsmiths of Passion. With their command of light constructs, they manifested entire cities, operating under the grand misconception that the energy source they tapped into was truly unlimited.
One astute being, a renowned scientist, dared to question this foundational belief. He harbored deep concerns that the very reservoir from which they drew their power might one day be utterly depleted. Though the Lightsmiths initially agreed to hear his theories, they ultimately scoffed at his warnings and cruelly branded him a Relic, dismissing his profound foresight.
Regrettably, Relic would be proven horrifyingly correct when the Blue Lightsmiths of Faith were the first to discover the universe's impending doom in an event they called The Dimming. They had not only drawn from emotion, but existence itself. This catastrophic revelation ignited the War of Dwindling Light, as the once harmonious factions savagely turned against each other in a desperate struggle for survival.[1]
Even amidst the fading glory of the Lightsmiths' universe, others sought to exploit their unique powers. These were the Light Pirates, who captured Lightsmiths for experimentation and exploitation. Stripped of their staves, the Lightsmiths' existence might have ended then and there, but for the unexpected intervention of members of the Green Lantern Corps.[2]
This group of Lanterns, hailing from a different universe, helped the captured Lightsmiths to escape. However, in a surprising turn of events, the freed Lightsmiths would regroup and attack the Lanterns in unison, seeking to claim the living planet Mogo for themselves.[3] They were repelled by the Lanterns and Mogo himself.[4]
Ultimately, each and every Lightsmith was extinguished, culminating in the passing of the final Green Lightsmith of Resolve and the cataclysmic death of their entire universe. Relic, ironically, remained the sole survivor of the cosmic collapse.[5]

The Lightsmiths were able to manipulate light by the use of staves, unique to each faction.
